Project Description

Let Them Know is a WordPress based web application that allows members to upload media and personal information to be distributed to family and friends of their choosing upon their death.

The web application provides a system for secure file uploads for each member, with an upload limit based on their membership level. The web application also provides a system for sending reminders to members via SMS and email, as it’s secondary value proposition.

If a site member dies, the site administration carries out the member’s wishes to distribute their media, typically in the form of self-recorded videos, to their loved ones.

I was tasked with the following for this site:

• Develop a secure file upload system, so that each member can have their own media which no other member or the public can access. The members also needed the ability to play video media, view, and download files. I chose to implement an integration with AWS S3 to achieve this
• Develop a system for SMS and email reminders, for which I chose to implement an integration with Twilio
• Upgrade the payment and subscriptions system and develop a customizable pricing page, for which I integrated with Woocommerce
• Build a custom admin interface for the management of user data
• Perform various enhancements to the site UI and signup flow
• The site is still a work in progress, as it is a low budget project, but agile principles were used to prioritize the product roadmap once I took on the role as product manager, so that a minimum viable product could be developed within budget and timeline constraints
